Opening concert: Florence!

The Festival brings top-rank artists from Turku’s beloved twin city Florence to our Concert Hall!

The City of Turku is twinned with a network of 13 cities around Europe. Turku and Florence have been twinned for more than 30 years. The Turku Music Festival celebrates this relationship with a flourish, bringing cellist Ettore Pagano, chief conductor Diego Ceretta and one of Italy’s finest orchestras, the Orchestra Della Toscana, from Florence to give a concert in Turku.

The programme is a bold, mad, multi-national offering of music by Gioachino Rossini, Camille Saint-Saëns, Franz Schubert and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, taking the audience on a wonderful musical journey.
